Making Waves

“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world.” -John Muir

Our decisions and actions leave a ripple effect that extends further than we typically see. It extends out in front of us, to our sides and even behind us. Never underestimate the effect of a single decision.

We are constantly bombarded with ideas, proposals, praises and attacks that move us to make a choice. Sometimes those trying to influence this do not see (or care about) the entire ripple effect of a decision. Tunnel-vision can impede our decision-making, disregarding certain effects, as we are enticed into a decision misinformed.

Effective leadership considers the entire ripple and its impact prior to making a decision. Its fine to go out and make ripples, or even waves, but be mindful that your wave is helping others surf to the shore, not tipping other’s boats.
